RELEASE: CARDIN EXPRESSES DISAPPOINTMENT WITH FORMER MARYLAND CD-1 CANDIDATE
September 10, 2012
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, DC — U.S. Senator Ben Cardin released the following statement in response to candidate Wendy Rosen’s withdrawal as a candidate for Maryland’s first Congressional district.
“Voting is a fundamental right and not a privilege in the United States of America but it comes with a responsibility to follow the law. At a time when we are actively trying to reverse extreme measures designed to discourage and disenfranchise eligible voters, it is outrageous to hear that a candidate for federal office abused her responsibility as a voter. To say that I am disappointed in Ms. Rosen would be a gross understatement. I applaud the swift actions and leadership of the Maryland Democratic Party that demonstrate zero tolerance for violating election laws in our state.”
